OUR STORY

The journey of Grand Konia Organization is deeply entrenched in the struggle to preserve the history and future of the Mande speaking people of West Africa. It is a journey of culture and tradition, firmly pillared on kinship, tradition, identity. It is to foster these values that Grand Konia was established 15 years. The organization was founded by passionate men and women who envisioned the creation of an enabling environment in a non typical African setting, Western Countries, to enhance the practice of tradition and keep families together. Since then, Grand Konia has grown to have members and officials across the world, including in the US, Canada, Europe, and Africa. The "Konia Radio" (videos here) has especially helped to keep the founding vision alive.

PHILOSOPHY

The Konia tradition, which drives the philosophy of Grand Konia Organization, is based on five pillars of FABADINYA, KAMISANYA, SANANKUNYA, LAMII, and TIN. These traditional pillars form the basis of our social interaction, add meaning to the N’ko language, and propel our culture and tradition through passages to current and future generations. Based on these pillars, Grand Konia hopes to reawaken our collective identity, our sense of community beyond boundaries, and to highlight the urgent need to forge an economic and political frontier and create mutually beneficial support group that spans across continents based on in-group loyalty and “Konia patriotism.”
